Video Rotate allows you to turn it back in the correct direction, for easier viewing and editing. Video Rotate currently works with .mov, .m4v, and .mp4 files. Other files that can be opened by QuickTime Player (such as .avi files), can be transformed to .mov files using the 'Save as...' feature of QuickTime Player.
For example, a video taken with an iPhone pointing down might have the wrong orientation. Video Rotate can easily fix that.
